Architecture, Interior Design & Artfully Collected Goods

Founded by brand marketer and design maven Lissa Lowe and architect Charles John “Bud” Hart (AIA NCARB), Draft House honors the village of Gold Hill’s storied roots while bringing a fresh eye for timeless living.

A Destination for Making Home & Making Merry

We are located in historic Gold Hill, Noth Carolina—just outside of Charlotte metro and close to Winston-Salem and Greensboro too. A perfect day trip for stepping back into time and relishing simplicity.

Part studio, part shop, Draft House is a place for making home and making merry—offering artfully collected goods, custom-fit residential architecture and design services, and inspiration for gatherings great and small. Every piece, plan, and provision is chosen by us with care for spaces that feel current yet full of soul.

Here, old meets new. Heritage mingles with modern. A spirit of warm welcome carries through every detail of what we do—from the considered lines of a home’s architectural draft to the gleam of a well-loved brass candlestick to the sip of specially made small-batch wine, coffee and tea.

Meet Henri, Our Mallard Muse

And then there’s Henri, our beloved mallard muse. Named for a dashing drake who protected his family of ducklings that swam in our backyard, his name means “home ruler,” a playful nod to our mission—creating spaces that are in fine feather, warm, and full of merriment. The very spirit of Draft House.
